Designed to meet specifications of National Track Federation ruling section 3 ARI. 6 requiring high schools to have a discus cage by the year 1993.
The cage is installed as portable. * Six each; 2 inch 16 Ga. square tubing 12 feet long with a 45 degree bend approximately 12 inches from the top end. Each section is predrilled with 3 holes of 3/8 in. diameter where eye bolts are inserted to anchor pipe in ground sleeve and also tie off netting.
* 6 sleeves 16 inches in length are set in concrete at ground level also drilled with a 3/8 inch hole 1 inch from the top end of each sleeve. The 12 foot tubing is inserted into a sleeve and secured with an eye bolt. During off season pipes are removed and sleeves provided with metal caps.
* The netting is treated black 21 gage nylon bordered with a 1/2 in. treated nylon rope. 1/4 inch x 14 ft. nylon tie lines are equally spaced along the top of the net for tie off to each of the eight pipe. The line is inserted through each of the two eye bolts at the top end of each pipe and tied off at the bottom end eye bolt.
* It is recommended that all throwing areas be roped and flagged to ensure the safety of spectators and athletes.
